      Hi Nigel,

I get this strange error message when I look at “note frame”: Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /../webtrees/includes/functions/functions_print_facts.php on line 950

I have enclosed the gedcom post. I can not figure out what is wrong. Can you see it?

      Regards,
      Jamie Jaconelli

Your attachment failed.” .txt” is not an allowed format. But don’t re-attach. I doubt if it will help.

What will help is to know what a “note frame” is. I have never heard of that phrase. A picture will probably help most.

In the GEDCOM data you emailed me you have this entry:

      2 NOTE @N1989@

Is that correct? 1989 seems a very high number compared to the other note objects in your data. They are all more like N10, N12 etc.

I think it was in 2010 I used the first N100 ๐Ÿ˜› – Yes it is correct – I have about 1700 shared notes (mostly used for census). I had 200 more which were used for the tree I separated 2 years ago so I deleted those. The reason why I have 1700 and the next free number start at 1900

Remove each note from that individual one at a time and see if that tells you which note causes the error. Then let me look at the note itself to see if I can tell what the problem is.

It has nothing to do with notes. I had a Research Task with a manager restriction. When I removed the restriction. The error was gone. Very strange!

In the Research Task I had a note and somehow it did not like to have a restriction when the system try to view notes!

Can you send me the GEDCOM data for the note N1989. I would like to recreate the problem.

Ofc I can send it – but it has nothing to do with the note! The error is gone now. After I deleted the Research Task with a restriction.

Did you try removing the notes but leaving the todo and its restriction?

First I removed the first note
      Then I removed the second
      Both same result.
      Then I removed the restriction.
      Error gone.

I have restriction at “research task” in general option and then I have made (earlier) a separated restriction at the fact at the indi – This twice restriction made this error. (because I edit my general option lately without thinking of each post with each restriction will cause an error)

I can’t agree with your results I’m afraid.

Also, the error message is clearly ONLY related to NOTES. The error message refers to “Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /../webtrees/includes/functions/functions_print_facts.php on line 950” That part of the code only deals with the display of notes.

In my testing, having multiple restrictions (global plus fact level) does not matter. That is also what the code tells me. Restrictions are only read in a hierarchy – first look at fact level. If restriction is found use that and ignore all others. That is necessary to allow you to set a global level, then over-ride it at a higher level for a specific fact.

But if you add two notes to any fact (not just research task) AND add a local (fact) restriction then you will generate the error.
The error does not happen if there is ONLY a global restriction, nor if there is no global restriction.

So in summary, the error occurs for any fact that has two or more notes, and a local (fact level) restriction.

I will add this to the bug list and fix it when and if I can.
