I was viewing the home page for my new site and tried to send myself email (not logged in). The email addy given was valid so why doesn’t it comply?

Address in mailbox given [alterfamily.rbcsolutions.ca] does not comply with RFC 2822, 3.6.2.
That is the answer. You are using your domain name in a setting that should be a valid email address. Check your Mail configuration in kiwitrees.
I’m not sure if it will be in
Administration > Site administration > Site configuration > Mail configuration tab > Sender email
or
Administration > Family trees > your family tree > Contact information tab > Kiwitrees reply address
I normally have the same in both of those.
Sorry, been quite scatter-brained of recent so missed replying. Fixed my email addy, even though you said in notation it’s suppose to be valid 🙁 Tried to send email from Users, received okay. Tried to create account (unapproved), email to myself, didn’t receive email.

Did you check both email settings nited in my previous reply?
If they are OK look for relevant entries in kiwitrees logs AND your web server logs.
I also assume you have checked your mail junk / spam folders etc?
mail config and contact email are set the same. No spam. The user account email is different addy.
Will wait until morning in case the mailman was slow in delivering 🙂 <Well, later today, it’s 4.20am here>

Not likely. Check those logs.
Nothing showing, only my edits. (Administration > logs)

Dont forget to check the other one. But maybe later 😉

Also, let me have a “blow-by=blow” list of what you did that failed (what pages you did what on, how, etc) so I can reproduce it on my machine. That way I can tell if its a code issue or a server issue. I don’t fully understand what “Tried to create account (unapproved), email to myself, didn’t receive email.” entailed.
