‘Simpl’ webtrees add-ons

Large simpl logo To complement our installations of webtrees we also offer a range of add-on modules under our own “Simpl” brand. They are called “simple” because they are just that, containing no fancy configuration options or unnecessary administration. They do require some adjustments for your own site, but those are clearly described in the installation file. To make the best use of them it helps if you have some understanding of basic HTML code, but nothing very complicated. All these modules are free to downloaded from their links here. Each module includes a “readme.html” file containing installation instructions. For questions regarding any of these please use the Contact linkin the menu above here.

Download any of these files by clicking on their name…….

  • Simpl_gallery2 - A simple jQuery-based gallery that will display pages of images stored in webtrees media sub-folders. Includes the display of notes and links to your family tree records. This is a replacement for the original Simpl_gallery. Upgrade instructions are included in the ReadMe file. Please read them carefully, as the process is significantly different! [Demo: Simpl_gallery of Wedgwood family portraits] [For webtrees 1.2.7 or later].
  • Simpl_theme - Simpl_theme is the one I use on my personal webtrees site Our Families. It is unusual in having a fixed width, very few icons, and a totally unique (for webtrees) menu structure. Its overall look is simple, and has some similarities to Apple's websites. [For webtrees 1.2.7 or later].
  • Simpl_check - Every installation of webtrees includes an un-publicised, but useful file called "gedcheck.php". It's purpose is to provide a check of your family tree data against the GEDCOM specification, but must be used with caution.

This tiny module adds a menu link to gedcheck.php on your webtrees administration page, simply to save you from otherwise needing to manually type the url for it into your browser. [For webtrees 1.2.5 or later.]

  • Simpl_mysqldumper - A simple module with a very powerful purpose! MySQLDumper is an excellent tool to help you back up your webtrees database at regular intervals. This module provides access to it directly from your webtrees administration panel. (NOTE: MySQLDumper itself is NOT included. You will need to download and install that separately. See ReadMe file for more details.) [For webtrees 1.2.3 or later, including 1.2.6]
  • Simpl_menu - A basic module that allows you to add a menu to webtrees with sub-menu items that can be used to implement other software products within the webtrees framework. A typical example might be to add a forum, such as phpBB3. [For webtrees 1.2.5 or later.]

Still to come: “Simpl_pages”.
